What is Chiropractic?
“ Chiropractic is a philosophy, science and art of things natural; A system of adjusting the segments of the spinal column by hand only, for the correction of the cause of dis-ease or dysfunction.”
How does your body work?
Your body has an inborn intelligence called innate intelligence. This innate intelligence Utilizes your brain to coordinate all organs and glands in your body, allowing you to adapt to environmental needs for optimal health.
How does your body break down?
Spinal misalignments or spinal subluxations cause an interference of your innate intelligence to express itself optimally. The result is dysfunction, dis-ease and imbalances.
Components of a spinal subluxation:
1. Kinesiopathology- Abnormal motion of the spinal joints.
2. Neuropathophysiology- compressed or facilitated nerve tissue.
3. Myopathology- Muscle spasm, muscle weakness, muscle atrophy.
4. Histopathology- Inflammation, Edema and swelling of tissue.
5. Pathophysiology- degeneration. Results in local and global dysfunction of health.
The first episode of the vertebral subluxation results from a micro or macro trauma to the joint.
The sprained joint is initially hypermobile.
Without care, The joint heals with fixation or hypomobility.
The hypomobility is accompanied by fibrosis and, in time, degeneration and remodeling of the Subluxated joint.
Compensation and adaptation occur and the entire biomechanics of the spine must adapt forcing a less than optimal spinal biomechanical profile.
Eventually , spinal degenerative changes can be seen on MRI and x-ray.
Ultimately The vertebral subluxation complex creates an interference, dysfunction, disc, joint and general health problems.
At Bates Chiropractic we correct spinal misalignments or spinal subluxations with Specific chiropractic adjustments.
How does your body get well?
Chiropractic spinal adjustments are provided by the chiropractor applying specific gentle forces in the area of spinal misalignment or spinal subluxations.
Spinal adjustment fact:
Your body is very smart. Your innate intelligence knows when your spine is out of alignment or subluxated. Your Innate intelligence utilizes tiny spinal muscles to correct these misalignments numerous times throughout your day.
However, through repetitive micro traumas/poor posture and macro traumas/ accidents, The spinal bones become “locked up” or “stuck”, your tiny spinal muscles are not able to align your spine. Chiropractors are trained to detect where these spinal muscles are attempting to correct your spinal misalignments.
The chiropractor will apply gentle specific forces that assist these muscles in correction of your spinal misalignment or subluxations.
At Bates Chiropractic we utilize multiple painless techniques to be used on newborn babies, expecting mothers to our oldest patient which is 102 years old and everything in between.
Chiropractic structural and functional exercises:
At Bates Chiropractic we utilize a very unique powerful approach to treatment of your spinal disorders. We integrate the common “functional rehabilitation “ of strength and conditioning with the unique “structural rehabilitation” by correction of your chronic spinal postural alignment.
Studies show that the application of scientific principles/ laws( Wolff’s & Davis Law) result in long-term correction of abnormal nerve reflexes caused by chronic postural spinal misalignment.
Structural rehabilitation corrects the deformed strained nerve tissue receptors called mechanoceptors, that cause increased sympathetic stimulation leading to ill- health.
For this reason we specialize in returning the normal upright spinal postural / position that normalizes nerve function allowing optimal function and health.
As a patient we teach you special “blueprint” postural/spinal exercises, based off your your Digital motion x-rays.
These specific unique spinal exercises are designed to be performed in the office and at home.
Post x-rays are taken to measure progress and maximal correction.
Chiropractic Techniques We Use
Bates Chiropractic specializes in pain relief, both in managing pain and eliminating it, through Corrective Chiropractic Care using specialized techniques and equipment including:
- Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP)
- Cranial Adjustment
- Manual Adjusting
- Pettibon Posture Correction Technique
- Sacro-Occipital Technique(SOT)
- Webster Technique
Developed by Dr. Peter Goldman and created by Dr. Thurman fleet. The zone technique is a spinal cord stimulation technique , which stimulates four points in the spinal cord that sends healing energy up the spinal cord to the brain centers that need balancing. The balanced brain centers then are able to send out proper signals to the body’s systems and the body is better able to heal itself.
