Pain-free Weight Loss Part 2

Last time we were talking about the most pain free weight loss, how to lose 16 pounds within the first month. Remember last week we talked about the food pyramid and how important it is to eat the most nutritionally dense food, which are…..green leafy vegetables. Your nutrient per calorie is going to be at 100 %.

We now know that USDA, the government based food pyramid recommends that one should have junk food as opposed to the higher nutrient food, which in turn makes one fat.

We want to change the food pyramid and have the green leafy vegetables primary.

To start off this food regimen, I don’t want you to change anything to your diet or take from your diet. I want you to add to your diet.

I want you to add one pound of raw vegetables and one pound of steamed vegetables, also have about 4-5 fruits a day. The key is this: you must have the vegetables before each meal.

For example:

You have a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee for breakfast everyday. Before you eat this, you will have a heart of romaine lettuce and a grapefruit, then your breakfast.

As a snack, in between breakfast and lunch, you’re going to have a banana or an orange or a grapefruit.

At lunch, you’re going to have a large green salad mixed with other vegetables, such as romaine with purple cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. Make sure there’s about one pound of vegetables in your salad. Then you can go on and have your regular meal. If you have a cheeseburger for lunch, have a cheeseburger! Remember you must have the salad first!

As another snack, in between lunch and dinner, you’re going to have a piece of fruit.

Dinner time comes around, now you’re going to have one pound of steamed vegetables before your normal dinner. If you want dessert, have another piece of fruit.

The deal is you must have one pound of raw vegetables and one pound of steamed vegetables, or two pounds of raw per day, with fruit before your normal meals.

It’s called the “add-to” diet, and I can guarantee if you do it for 6 weeks, you will lose weight. Also the health benefits will go through the roof, because of all of the healthy phyto-nutrients, the fiber, the minerals, the vitamins in there that you wouldn’t normally get. All of that is protective against cancers, diabetes, and heart disease. So, you’re going to be adding to your health too!

You will be adding to your health, losing weight, and not going to go crazy thinking you are deprived.

Chiropractor Manhattan Beach Shares A Typical Breakfast

Good morning, this is Dr. Rob with your health blog for the week. I want to go over some of the things you may want to eat for breakfast. Now, if you’re doing the one pound rule that we talked about in our last nutrition workshop and would like to lose weight, a good way to do so is by eating romaine lettuce before each meal.

It’s about 5:30 in the morning right now and this is how I start off my mornings: I go into the refrigerator, grab my bag of romaine lettuce, tear out one of the hearts, and eat the leaves one by one. I eat the leaves like potato chips. You should have an entire heart of romaine lettuce before breakfast. What I typically like to eat after lettuce is a grapefruit, then a handful of my chlorella, and then a coconut yogurt in which I throw a couple scoops of collagen. I showed you a typical breakfast, but I also like to have oatmeal with frozen blueberries after the romaine.

Here’s the thing, you want to get the heart of lettuce in before the rest of your breakfast, because it will give you all of those phytochemicals and protective nutrients, such as the fiber, the enzymes, and the vitamins that will protect you against cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. If you’re looking to lose weight, it is also important to eat your veggies before anything else, to naturally lose and stabilize your weight.

Best Ways To Add Calcium For Optimum Bone Health

The question for you this week is if you had to choose one thing that would add calcium to your diet, to keep your bones strong, which food would you choose?

When I ask people this question, most people would say dairy, like milk.

But what is interesting is that it is not your richest source of calcium. If we take a look at the studies, the studies say that the countries that have the highest dairy intake have the highest rate of osteoporosis and hip fractures. In essence, the people that drink the most milk will have the worst bones.

We should realize that the sources that have the richest calcium are green leafy vegetables. For example, As far as the amount of absorbable calcium, it is far better in green leafy vegetables.

In our office, there are other ways to strengthen our bones to promote bone health. You can do it by doing weight-bearing type of exercises. This will add more stress to the joints, which will cause the body to start laying down more calcium in those weight bearing joints. The weight bearing joints, such as the hips, are the most frequently fractured bones of the body where people have osteoporosis.

What we do in our office is tell our patients to walk for 15 minutes with weights. We kill two birds with one stone when we do that, because we add weights on the body in certain areas that actually add stress to the joints as well globally correct the posture. So, our patients get two great health benefits: the weight bearing stress to the joints to get more calcium plus the correction to their posture.

Organic Produce vs. Conventional Produce

Hi this is Dr. Rob with your weekly health blog. This week we’re going to talk about organic produce vs. conventional produce. I’ve spoken to a lot of people who say they don’t want to pay the higher price of organic produce. But let’s look at what you’re getting: standard conventional produce is loaded with chemicals, such as herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers, with the idea of protecting the plant against bugs in order for the crop to survive. What happens, however, is that the chemicals go into the ground and kill up to 85% of the microbes within the soil; meaning 85% of the nutrients produced by the microbes in the soil are not getting to the plant. In other words, conventional type of farming produces a plastic plant that loaded with chemicals and not a nice healthy one That’s what the lower price is paying for as opposed to organic produce which is a higher quality of food. It’s going to have a much higher nutrient value than the standardized farming as well as devoid of the harmful chemicals. That alone would be worth paying the higher price – although it’s what you should be getting in the first place. Organic is the way to go if you want to prevent chemicals in your diet and a higher quality of nutrient. Look at organic, because it’s going to be your best buy. The Benefits of the One Pound Rule

This is Dr. Rob coming form Bates Chiropractic. I’m here nourishing my lower spine discs with a chair called the wobble chair. It’s designed to nourish the lower discs of the lumbar spine. After the age of 25, we begin to lose direct blood flow to the discs, which means you won’t get the proper nourishment without motion. It’s a great instrument for that.

Since we’re on the topic of nourishment, the last two video blogs have been on the one pound rule. We want to cover a few benefits of that rule. Remember, the one pound rule consists of two pounds of vegetables per day: one pound of raw and one pound of steamed. The rule is that you must eat the vegetables before your regular meals. For example: in the morning, you’ll have a heart or romaine lettuce, in the afternoon, you’ll have a huge bowl of salad, and in the evening, another salad or a big plate of steamed veggies.

The benefits of said diet are such:  The average American has about 5 % of vegetables in their diet, and that 5% mainly consists of French fried potatoes. Right away, you can see the benefits of adding more vegetables to your diet. If you’re adding what we’re talking about, you’ll be way ahead of the game.

The benefits of adding vegetables to your diet is that you’ll be getting loads of phytochemicals, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. You should also note that when you have all those protective nutrients from the antioxidants and the phytochemicals, they are going to give you protection against diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. And completely natural!

In fact, if you were to just increase your diet of cruciferous vegetables by 20 %, you would decrease your cancer rate 40 %. If the pharmaceutical companies were to find a way to put that into an anti- cancer type of drug, I can guarantee you, you’d hear all about that. It would be plastered all over the world that this drug can decrease cancer rates by 40 %, but they can’t do that, because they can’t patent broccoli or cauliflower or cabbage. These are all natural things.

Chemical Causes of Disease

We’re here to talk about the major causes of disease, which will interfere with your innate intelligence to express itself. Basically there are three major causes that don’t allow your body to adapt to stress, which were the physical causes that we talked about last week, the chemical causes which we are going to talk about today, and next week we’re going to talk about the chemical causes.

Today as far as chemical is more of what is poisonous to the body. It can be done through the environment and it also can be done through things you ingest, for example, things like food, water, and also breathing.

Food is a big thing, because 90% of what Americans eat is processed food loaded with chemicals and preservatives that make it very difficult for your body’s intelligence to adapt to it; which will cause a stress response to your body, meaning it will eventually cause it to breakdown and cause a disease state.
The goal is increasing your diet with raw, organic, unprocessed foods. 90% of your diet should be made up of unprocessed foods and not the other way around. In prior blogs we’ve talked about what one should be eating, like the one pound rule. You can look back and check out our weight-loss blog on what to eat!
I also suggest a book called “Eat to Live” by Doctor Joel Furhman. That gives you a good basic understanding of what you should be eating.

Another thing that we have to concern ourselves with is other chemicals that we take in: drugs. Pushed or prescribed, a drug is still poison to the body. Prescribed drugs are always a concern, because we think it’s really going to be helping ourselves but really it is just a poison that the body is taking on. For example, a person going through chemo for cancer, all that’s doing is killing the body and hopefully killing more of the cancer cells so that by the end of the treatment, hopefully the innate intelligence can rebuild the body.

Again, push or prescribed drugs are still a poison to your body. You should really look at what is in your control and try to eliminate the drugs from your diet and life and look at increasing your body with whole, organic, unprocessed foods.

Supplements should be added to your diet as well. Think of it as if you were building a ship. To build ship, you have wood and you have nails. The wood of the ship represents you, your body. The wood of the ship is the macro-nutrition; it’s all the food you should be eating, the whole foods. But also you should have the proper vitamins, nutrients, and minerals, which are the supplements. The supplements are the nails that hold the ship together. You need both of those to have a sturdy ship, especially in today’s environment where the soil is depleted. You won’t get the same minerals, nutrients, and phytochemicals in your produce like we used to.

Investigate and not rely on just the supplements, your body needs the whole foods as well.

Chemical stress is important, it’s a large topic. We have to look at the food we’re eating, the water we’re drinking, the air we’re breathing in, and the poison we’re taking in. These things are in our control: our diet, what we’re drinking, and eliminating the drugs.
